The FA Cup may have lost its significance in the recent years with the big clubs pushing for the League and European glory. Star players are rested in it and young players are given a chance to shine. This has resulted in smaller teams eliminating the big boys. However, there is a different ball game, this time around with all Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton making it amongst the last eight.
This has been an unpredictable season with Leicester favorites to end up as EPL champions. Chelsea is well out of the title race with 20 points separating them and the leaders and they have been dumped out of the UCL by PSG yet again. Manchester United and Liverpool face-off in the Europa League in the group of 16 while Arsenal has to go to the Camp Nou with a two-goal deficit. The league is running away from the hands of Arsenal with just 1 point from their last 3 EPL games.
With the league and European glory almost out of reach of all these big teams, the managers would turn to the FA Cup to win some silverware and earn the support of their fans.
Manchester United will be welcoming the impressive West Ham at the theatre of dreams. It’s a must win game for LVG who would want to enjoy some success before going out. The Blues face a tricky tie at Goodison Park against Everton. Guus Hiddink will come out with all guns blazing to show the Russian billionaire that he should be considered as a long-term solution. The Gunners are up against Ighalo and co and anything less than a win would result in the fans getting over Wenger’s head yet again.
There is a lot of interesting football coming your way with some crunching ties. With all the big teams looking for the cup, a final involving two of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea on the cards. We are in for a treat with the FA cup making the money worth for the fans. Will Arsene’s men win it for the third time running? Will there be an upset? Tune in on Sky sports on the weekend and watch some breathtaking action.
