Stefan de Vrij has asked Internazionale for patience. The defender of Lazio could immediately get to work in the Giuseppe Meazza, but according to Mundo Deportivo still dreams of an offer from Barcelona. For this reason, De Vrij asked Inter’s club management for extra time before he decided to take a decision on a transfer to Milan.
De Vrij has an expiring contract, as a result of which interested clubs can officially negotiate with the Orange international from this month onwards. Barcelona maintains a good relationship with the manager of De Vrij, who also represents the interests of Thomas Vermaelen, and that would give the Spaniards a boost. However, LaLiga’s frontrunner for the past few months has kept aloof and has not approached Lazio directly.
According to Mundo Deportivo, De Vrij is nevertheless often viewed by Barcelona this season. The same applies to Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli. However, the asking price is a problem for both players; certainly after the transfer of Virgil van Dijk more is asked for defenders, according to the newspaper. There is therefore a chance that Barcelona will wait for another six months, in the hope of taking over De Vrij transfervrij. Inter would like to do business as early as January, which is why Lazio prefers a deal with the competitor.
