Jordy Clasie was able to look forward to a new club from his employer Southampton last summer and finally the midfielder was hired out to Club Brugge. The seventeenfold international, however, also thought of a return to Feyenoord, the club he left for the Saints in 2015. Feyenoord was not happy on the return of Clasie.
“I wanted to be let to Feyenoord. I myself contacted myself and was willing to hand in. But Feyenoord didn’t want it,”says the 26-year-old midfielder, who still hopes for a Feyenoord return, to Bart Nolles, journalist of RTV Rijnmond and Omroep West, among others.”Maybe next season”.
Clasie exchanged Feyenoord for Southampton in 2015, for fifteen million euros, but the midfielder at the Premier League club could not grow into a base player. Clasie played a total of 155 matches with the Rotterdammers, in which he scored 8 times and delivered 24 assists. At Club Brugge, Clasie played only three duels this season, partly due to a knee injury.
