Diego Costa’s strike was enough to seal the victory for Chelsea against Middlesbrough. It was the only goal of the match which saw the blues climbing to the top of the EPL after a long time.

The visitors were fairly confident going into the game as they won their last five league games and kept a clean sheet in each of them. Boro couldn’t stop Conte’ side as Costa’s goal sank the hosts.

Chelsea had a chance to make it two but Pedro was denied by the bar. Meanwhile, the home side also came close in the second half when Ramirez blew a good opportunity by rushing his effort.

Chelsea is on a roll and has not conceded a goal in around 600 minutes of football. The last time the club managed to do this was back in 2016 and this win puts the blues on top with one point separating them and Manchester City.

Conte’s magic formation has been a success in the EPL as their winning streak continues. It wouldn’t be a surprise if others managers also try to change their strategy and switch to it. The embarrassing defeat at Emirates has truly been a blessing in disguise for the team.

After their sixth consecutive clean sheet, many Chelsea supporters are comparing it to the 2004 December-2005 February period when the side didn’t concede a goal in 10 matches.
However, the West London club faces two tough fixtures next with Spurs making a trip to Stamford Bridge and an away game at Etihad. The 3-4-3 formation will be completely tested in these two big games and it will be a measure of Chelsea’s credentials.

Costa can’t stop scoring as the Spanish International became the first player to move to double figures this season. The striker volleyed past Victor Valdes to set up his 10th goal of the league. The forward is having the same impact that he had in his debut season.

If the player keeps up his current form, it will be his best ever scoring season for Chelsea and one can expect him to bag the Golden boot at the end of the campaign.

On the other hand, Boro has impressed since returning to EPL. Karanka’s men drew with both Manchester City and Arsenal at their respective home grounds which is a great achievement for a newly promoted club. Against Chelsea, they lost 1-0, that too because they failed to convert their chances.
