André Onana has been called for the first time since the Confederations Cup for the national team of Cameroon, as confirmed by the African country on Tuesday afternoon. Ajax’s goalkeeper had previously lived in disrepute with former federal coach Hugo Broos, who was dismissed in December by the country’s national football association.
Broos then indicated that Onana didn’t want to be called anymore, after which the closure post denied that. During the Africa Cup at the beginning of last year, the two were already in the battle as Onana preferred to stay at Ajax rather than travel to the tournament as a third goalkeeper.
After Broos’s resignation, Alexander Belinga watches the honors for the time being and has included Onana in his 25-member selection, as well as goalkeepers Carlos Kameni and Fabrice Onana (a cousin of the Ajax galaxy) and players such as Eric Maxim Choupo Moting and Vincent Aboubakar. Cameroon, which did not manage to place itself in front of the World Cup next summer, will be exercising against Kuwait on 25 March.
Do you think that André Onana should be the first choice for Cameroon?
