Anderson Silva positive on anabolic steroids, diuretics

Anderson Silva has been found positive on two banned substances by USADA, according to Combate. In the doping control of 26 October, the UFC legend was caught with traces of methyltestosterone and diuretics.

Silva was supposed to fight 122 on UFC Fight Night against Kelvin Gastelum, but two weeks earlier he was informed by USADA about a possible violation of the doping rules. The fight was cancelled and The Spider was suspended indefinitely.

Methyltestosterone is, according to Webmd, used by men who by nature no longer grow enough testosterone. A diuretic is a substance that promotes the absorption of moisture in the kidneys, i. e. a plasma pill. It is also used to mask other substances.

Silva risks a four-year suspension as USADA decision to take into account the first violation of The Spider. After UFC 183, the UFC legend was suspended for one year for the use of four prohibited substances. This happened before the UFC entered into a collaboration with USADA.

Silva (42) has always denied and is currently in the process of allocation with USADA.
