Abel Tamata stopped playing as a professional footballer. The former PSV’ there will focus on a study into sports management, according to his manager Ali B confirms to the Eindhovens Dagblad, among others. At the end of 2010, Tamata made his debut in a Europe League duel for the main power of the Eindhoveners. In total he played 41 matches for PSV.
At the end of 2011, after an injury suffered by Erik Pieters, he took a lot of playing time for Tamata, but he was also injured at the time, as a result of which Jetro Willems seized his chance and broke through. The back, which mainly acted as a left-wing defender, came from the youth education of NAC Breda to PSV in 2007 and has been regarded as a defensive talent ever since.
PSV rented Tamata later a season to Roda JC JC Kerkrade. Under Phililp Cocu’s leadership, Tamata took the title in 2015 with PSV. He then left for FC Groningen, where his contract was terminated after more than a year in close consultation. After working at ADO Den Haag and Almere City FC he decided to focus on his social career, partly because of the many injuries.
