The Brazilian magician combined superbly with Sturridge and broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a crisp finish. Unfortunately, the home side’s lead lasted only 12 minutes. Harry Kane’s sublime finish after turning leveled the game and gave hope to the visitors.
Liverpool was the better side on the day and came close to scoring on many occasions. Spurs have Hugo Lloris to thank who made some brilliant saves. The French goalkeeper denied Lallana twice and made a crucial one on one save against Sturridge. Furthermore, Coutinho was just a few inches away from grabbing the winner in the ending moments.
On the other hand, Spurs had a few good chances too, but Mignolet responded with good reflex saves. Leicester faces Southampton at home, and Ranieri’s side has a golden opportunity to go seven points clear off the top.
There are two perspectives to this match from a Tottenham fan. Spurs have only managed one win in 23 years at Anfield and a draw at Merseyside showed improvement. On the other hand, failing to secure a victory meant that two crucial points were lost in the title race which can prove to be costly at the end of the season.
