There is a good chance that William II will have to make it for the rest of the season without Mattijs Branderhorst. The goalkeeper fell out last weekend in the home match against PSV (5-0) with an thigh injury last weekend and probably won’t get into action again this season, so late the Tilburg club will know Tuesday evening via the official channels.
Burnerhorst had to be replaced by PSV in peace and quiet on Saturday evening, after he suffered an injury to his right leg in the first half. The 24-year-old goalkeeper was examined further in the hospital on Monday and the injury turns out to be more serious than expected, now that Willem II reports that he has almost certainly not had access to the last seven league matches.
This is a hard blow for the Eredivisionist, as Branderhorst has been the first goalkeeper of William II since October last year. At the time he took over that position from Timon Wellenreuther, who replaced Branderhorst in the duel with PSV and will probably also be in the middle of the season.
